Bahrain St. Peter's J.S.O. Church celebrated the Dedication Day and Church Perunal on Saturday, 29th June 2013 evening with Holy Qurbana, Procession and Nercha Vilambu. On 27th Friday morning after the Holy Qurbana the perunal flag was hoisted and in the evening there  was Gospel Convention by Rev. Dr. Zakharia, the Vicar of Bahrain St. Paul's Marthoma Church.   On Saturday evening, the Vicar Fr. Benny Abraham offered the Holy Qurbana and lead the Procession  around the Church.  Adults and children enthusiastically participated in the Procession, with Wooden,  Gold and Silver Crosses, several flags, ornamental umbrellas etc.

Thomas Mor Alexandrios Metropolitan has been given full charge of the Mumbai Diocese vide Kalpana No. P.11/13 dated on 13th.June 2013 of H.B.  Baselios Thomas I Catholicose. The Executive Council of the Mumbai Diocese of the Jacobite  Syrian Orthodox Church at its meeting held at St. Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church,  Mulund, Mumbai on 26th june.2013 unanimously decided to invite the new Metropolitan at the earliest. Accordingly Mor Alexandrios will arrive at Mumbai on Saturday 29th June 2013. Priests,  Diocesan Council members, Sabha Working Committee members & Sabha Managing Committee  members will give a warm welcome to Thirumeni at Mumbai Domestic Airport at 4.00 p.m. and  proceed to St. Thomas Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Nerul, Navi Mumbai, where His Grace will preside over a meeting of the above members at 5.30 p.m. On Sunday 30th June 2013 at 8.00 a.m.  His Grace will celebrate Holy Qurbono at St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Kalina,  Mumbai, and at 2.00 p.m. preside over a ‘Clergy meeting’ of the Priests of the Mumbai Diocese.

His Holiness is in a short visit to Germany for medical checkup. His Holiness will return back to Achane, Lebanon on 13th of this month. The kidnapping of the two Metropolitan Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorios Yuhanna Ibrahim of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, and Paul Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, entering into the Fifty-Ninth Day. As per the recent information, kidnapped (on Monday 22nd April 2013) Metropolitan Archbishops are located in a town called Beshkatin Northwest of Aleppo. Both are in good health. Every prelate of the both churches Syriac and Greek is putting possible efforts now to facilitate the soonest possible release of the abducted archbishops from captivity. We the moderators of Mor Bahnan Study Circle (MBSC) & Malankara Syriac Voice (MSV) Team urge on our brothers and sisters of all peace promoting religions to denounce this act of terrorism and pray that the Lord keep them unharmed and return them as soon as possible to their suffering congregation. May the risen Lord continue to strengthen our Syriac Orthodox church and all Christians during these trials and tribulations, Amen.

Fortieth Day to the abduction of Metropolitans

The kidnapping of the two Metropolitan Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorios Yuhanna Ibrahim of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, and Paul Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, entering into the Fortieth Day.

As per the recent information, kidnapped (on Monday 22 April'13) Metropolitan Archbishops are located in a town called Beshkatin Northwest of Aleppo. Both are in good health.

Every prelate of the both churches Syriac and Greek is putting possible efforts now to facilitate the soonest possible release of the abducted archbishops from captivity.

We the moderators of Mor Bahnan Study Circle (MBSC) & Malankara Syriac Voice (MSV) Team urge on our brothers and sisters of all peace promoting religions to denounce this act of terrorism and pray that the Lord keep them unharmed and return them as soon as possible to their suffering congregation.

WCC- International & Ecumenical Conference on Christian Presence and Witness in the Middle East

The International and Ecumenical conference on the Theme "Christian Presence and Witness in the Middle East"' organized by World Council of churches and Middle East Council of Churches held on 21-25 at Beirut, Lebanon. The participants in this meeting included leaders and representatives from Christian churches in the Middle East and Christian churches and organizations from 34 other countries ascertained the need to help to strengthen the Christian presence and witness in the middle East for the benefit of Unity, justice and peace for all in this crucial region. The neighboring Syria and the region is experiencing unprecedented political, cultural and historical convulsions, disrupting and endangering the lives of all who live in this region, especially Christians.   One of the most important concerns and agenda of the meeting was the issue of the two Archbishops from Aleppo, His Eminence Mor Youhanna Gregorios Ibrahim, Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo and His Eminence Mor Boulos Yazigi Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo and Alexandria, kidnapped over one month ago. The news of their kidnapping shocked the whole world, especially people of this region, and galvanized Christians around the world. The conference appealed for their speedy release and passed a resolution, addressed to the Inter National Organizations and State Heads of this region as well as in the West demanding a sincere and speedy interference for the release of the two kidnapped metropolitans.   The conference affirmed that the Christians in the middle East have been rooted in the soil from the time of Jesus Christ and over the intervening centuries and they are an integral part of their Lands. The states have the responsibility to protect all of their citizens on an equal basis. The religious freedom and the freedom of coincidence should be guaranteed in the Middle East.   The role of the Palestinian issue is vital in this area. Resolving the the conflict between Israel and Palestine in accordance with UN resolutions and international Law, will greatly help resolving the other conflicts in the region. Jerusalem today is an occupied city with government which has adopted discriminatory policies against Christians and Muslims alike. Jerusalem must be open, accessible inclusive and shared city for two peoples and three religions, with the careful protection of their holy places.the conference underlined to encourage the United Nations, USA, EU and Russia along with other countries in positions of political power to create policies that promote peace with justice for all people of the region.   Dr. Kuriakose Mor Theophilose Metropolitan of the Syrian Orthodox Church was the participant from India. A delegation lead by H.E. Metropolitan Bishoy and Mor Theophilose met His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka 1 Iwas, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, and discussed about the latest development in Syrian and the two kidnapped Metropolitans and updated His Holiness the decisions of WCC meeting.

Mor Coorilos Geevarghese reelected as Chairperson of SCMI for a third consecutive term

Ranchi: Mor Coorilos Geevarghese, Metropolitan of Niranam diocese and Moderator of WCC's Commission on World Mission and Evangelism has been reelected as Chairperson of the Student Christian Movement of India. The General Committee, the highest decision making body of SCMI which met in Ranchi from 27-30 May 2013, unanimously elected Mor Coorilos for a third consecutive term. Mr. A. J. Anandan was also reelected as SCMI honorary Treasurer for a further term. About 70 delegates from all over India attended the GC meeting. SCMI, the oldest ecumenical movement in India celebrated it's Centenray last year.

Holy Father arrived Germany for a Private Visit today. His Holiness aaccompanied by His Eminence Timothy Mor Matta Alkhoury, the monks and two nuns. The Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar of the Archdiocese of Germany, Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis, Mor Julius Hanna Aydin, and large number of Clergy and faithful received His Holiness at Hanove Air Port. The visit of the Patriarch in Germany is exclusively for medical purpose. His Holiness is undergoing medical examinations. We wish His Holiness good health and all the best.

BREAKING NEWS: Set the location of the kidnapped priests in Aleppo province (YET TO CONFIRM)

A Syrian television station ' Al-Samaa ' reported that Syrian authorities know the whereabouts of the kidnapped in the province of Aleppo, in the village of Kafr the Antiochian Orthodox church Metropolitan of Dai Paul Âzyndži and Syrian Orthodox church Metropolitan Gregory John Ibrahim.

According to the TV channel, the priests took over the extremist group made up of immigrants from Chechnya, and they are now controlled by militants in the village of Daaret Al-Azza Aleppo province.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation urges release of captive bishops

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation urged on Saturday an “unconditional” release of two bishops kidnapped this week in Syria.

OIC secretary general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu condemned the kidnapping on Monday of Aleppo’s Greek Orthodox Bishop Boulos Yaziji and Syriac Orthodox Bishop Yohanna Ibrahim by armed men as they were en route to the northern city from the Turkish border.

He called in a statement for their “immediate and unconditional release because such act contradicts the principles of true Islam, and the (high) status held for Christian clergymen in Islam.”

The head of the 57-member organization of states said Christian clergy always “lived in dignity and honor in the countries of Islam.”

No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, but sources at the Greek Orthodox Church have said the kidnappers are “Chechen jihadists.”

Christians account for around five percent of Syria’s population. They have become increasingly vulnerable to attack and abductions in the lawlessness that has engulfed much of the country since an uprising against President Bashar Assad erupted two years ago.

The kidnapping of the two Metropolitan Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorios Yuhanna Ibrahim of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, and Paul Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, and the killing of their driver whilst they were carrying out a humanitarian mission, is a dramatic confirmation of the tragic situation in which the Syrian people in general and the Christian communities in particular in Syria are living.
